    电影中，男主角Michael （由Dermot Mulroney扮演）和女主角Julianne(由 Julia Roberts扮演)是多年的好友，两人曾有誓言如果在28岁时两人都还是单身，那他俩就结婚。就在Julianne快到28岁时，Michael打电话告知Julianne他就要和新识女友Kimmy结婚了。听到这个消息，一种嫉妒的心情使Julianne要想尽办法使婚礼化为泡影。在上一期的“好台词”栏目中提到Julianne为Kimmy和Michael设置了一个trap（陷阱），从下面选的这个片断来看，Julianne的trap还真生效了。

Julianne: So this is your basic call-off-the-wedding party1?
Michael: I came here to confront2 everybody. I'm not just gonna slink away3 like some coward. Besides， she hasn't told anyone. I don't know, what am I supposed to do?
Julianne: Michael. There is a wedding at 6 o'clock. Have you changed your mind? Do you want to marry Kimmy?
Michael: I made a decision. It's over. I'll go tell them. First, do you think she's all right? Maybe you could go check on her4 for me?
Kimmy: These are the most beautiful flowers I've ever seen. How is he?
Julianne: He's sort of wondering why you haven't told your parents that the wedding's off 5.
Kimmy: Well, I don't know. I'm still... I'm still hoping for a miracle6, I suppose. I mean, how could he think my father and I would do such a thing?
Julianne: I only minored7 in psyche, you understand, but maybe Michael couldn't commit to this marriage so he created a delusion8， produced an unconscious psychosomatic manifestation9 of, uh... I'm better with food. Okay. You are
Michael, you're in a fancy French restaurant, you order a Creme Brulee for dessert. It's beautiful, it's sweet, it's irritatingly perfect. Suddenly, Michael realizes, he doesn't want Creme Brulee. He wants something else.
Kimmy: What does he want?
Julianne: Jell-O.10
Kimmy: Jell-O? Why does he want Jell-O?
Julianne: Because he's comfortable with Jell-O. Jell-O makes him comfortable, I realize, compared to Creme Brulee, it's Jell-O, but maybe that's what he needs.
Kimmy: I could be Jell-O11.
Julianne: No. Creme Brulee can never be Jell-O. You could never be Jell-O.
Kimmy: I have to be Jell-O.
Julianne: You've never gonna be Jell-O. Now you need to come clean with12 your parents because if you're waiting ... for that “do- you-take-this-man”part13, it's considered poor form14.
Kimmy: I love him. And whatever delusions I drove Michael to, there is truth at the heart of it15. You see, I want him to work for my father. I want to stay in school. And I want a life of my own. Please. Tell him it's my fault, and that I love him. You're the only person that I trust.

1. basic call-off-the-wedding party: the usual "tell everyone the wedding is cancelled" party.
2. confront: deal with, face up to.
3. slink away: creep away, quietly leave.
4. go check on her: see how she is doing.
5. the wedding's off: there will be no wedding.
6. hoping for a miracle: hoping something will change his mind in the last minute.
7. minored: In the US, in addition to a major in college, you can also take someclasses to qualify as a minor. You do not have to take as many classes to satisfy the major requirement.
8. delusion: illusion, fantasy(幻觉).
9. unconscious psychosomatic manifestation: unaware of the mental signs. Julianne is just saying random words dealing with psychology to make it sound as if she knows what she is saying.
10. You are Michael ... Jell-O.: Julianne is using an analogy (类比) here. CremeBrulee, a very fancy dessert, is what Kimmy is. Jell-O is a very ordinary dessert.
11. I could be Jell-O: Kimmy is saying she can be whatever Michael wants.
12. come clean with: be honest, tell the truth to.
13."do-you-take-this-man" part: the part of the wedding where the priest or judge asks the bride if she will marry the groom.
14. poor form: looks bad, makes a bad impression.
15. at the heart of it: somewhere in the most important part, deep down.
