R&B (rhythm and blues)音乐产生于第二次世界大战后的黑人中，特点是摇摆感的旋律及节拍，摇滚乐就孕育于这种布鲁斯节奏的音乐形式。许多年轻的音乐人对R&B情有独衷，并取得很大的成功，台湾的周杰伦、英国的Craig David都凭着R&B风格的作品成为当地极有影响的先锋派歌手兼创作人。
今年19岁的Craig David早在14岁就在当地的电台和俱乐部当主持人，并兼做DJ的工作，播放R&B和Ragga（车库乐，发源于纽约，尤其在声乐部分吸纳了灵歌成分)音乐, 15岁为男孩组合Damage的歌曲“I'm Ready”填写了歌词。他的第一首单曲“Fill Me In”及以后的“Seven Days”都曾夺得英国排行榜的冠军。
多年从事音乐的经历使Craig David对当今乐坛有深刻而成熟的认识。他承认自己不可避免地受美国音乐的影响，尤其欣赏歌手R. Kelly和Donnel Jones。但他坚持要为英国音乐的发展而努力，他相信丧失英伦本色只会使自己的音乐误入歧途。对于R&B和Pop，他认为没必要划分得太清楚。为了照顾到更多的听众，他常选择中间地带，这是多年实践的结果。
这首“Once in A Lifetime”选自Craig David 的第一张专辑Born To Do It。一个饱受感情创伤的男孩终于找到了一生一次的美丽爱情，走出人生的低谷。真诚地希望每个人经过多次的曲折和历练后都能找到属于自己的那份幸福。
