Man Drives Home1 Cry for Psychiatric Help

A 48-year-old Slovenian smashed his car through the glass doors of a hospital and drove down a corridor to the reception desk to ram home2 his demand for psychiatric treatment. A local newspaper said Aleksandar Oven became angry when he was refused an appointment at the hospital in the town of Izola. "I urgently need a psychiatrist. If I don' get one, I'll drive my car through this corridor," staff quoted him as saying. When he was refused, Oven ran out of the hospital but returned minutes later in his car, which he drove through the glass doors and down a 30-meter corridor to reception. Medical staff then calmed him down until police arrived and transferred him to a mental hospital. No one was injured in the incident. Asked why he did it, Oven replied: "I don't know — that's why I came here."
