profit常用复数，指通过投资等方式，扣除成本等支出后净赚得的利润、经济收益；而benefit可泛指得到的好处、回报、益处，并不一定指赚取的利润或经济上的回报。另外，benefits也可以指救济金、补助费、抚恤金等。如：disability benefits残废抚恤金;unemployment benefit(s)师爷救济金。但是，profit和benefit作动词时同作“得益”解，values作复数时作“价值观”、“社会准则”解。
如：

• They make a profit of ten pence on every copy they sell.
  他们每售出一本获利十便士。
• The company has declared an increase in profits.
  该公司宣布利润增加。
• The new regulations will be of great benefit to us all.
  新的规章对我们大家都会大有好处。
