This
research starts from "Reflections of an English Tutor" in an online language
learning program. In that report, the tutor found that his journal entries
highlight three interrelated areas in on-line language learning program: (1)
relationship building, (2) reflective practice, and (3) the promotion of
independence, while investigating reflective journal writing by an on-line
tutor working with a group of Chinese learners of English.
As a
Chinese teacher of English, the author, in the second part, gives an
interpretation for the breakages between the teacher and his students from the
perspective of culture difference.
In the
concluding part, the author argues that PRC students need re-socialization in
digital classrooms, and suggests tips for PRC students’ re-socialization in
virtual classrooms, i.e., how to learn in an asynchronous computer-mediated
communication setting with an English tutor.
