A Research on Student-Centered English Teaching Mode by Internet

By far much has been done about the teaching reformation of English, but still students remain “dumb”, unable to express themselves freely in English. Reason for this is that by far the reform has been focused on the change of teaching contents, means or methods. Nothing has been done to change the mode of English teaching. Therefore, one of the chief goals of the presents reformation is to abandon the traditional teacher-centered teaching mode which neglects the initiative and creativity of students, thus making Chinese students’ foreign language learning less effective than that of their foreign counterparts. It is high time that teacher-centered instructional mode be replaced by student-centered instructional mode with students playing a principal part while teachers a leading part. After analyzing the deficiencies of traditional English teaching mode and the advantages of English teaching mode by Internet, this paper states teaching English by Internet is a good way out, which is sure to bring about a thorough reform in teaching contents, means and methods.
