Virtual Worlds, Web. 2.0 and Online Learning

The web has come a long way since 1994 when it was merely a clickable, hyperlinked albeit, quickly growing, set of HTML pages. Now we have what Tim O'Reilly has dubbed, "Web 2.0" where the users are no longer passive readers but active contributors to the World Wide Web. The Internet may soon allow everyone to connect with anyone else in the world.? What does this mean for online language learning here and now?? Can we tap this power for our students? This presentation will attempt to find some answers to this question.
