跟外教提升英语实操技能

继“英国女孩Fran,你身边的伦敦音”系列外教口语VOB节目之后，为了进一步激发我院学生学习英语的热情，提升学生讲英语的能力，开展新一期的外教口语VOB节目，届时着重培养我院学生口语实战能力。

外教Scott

Scott Powers Houston，美籍外教，也许一份朴实无华的简历不足以调配Scott色彩丰富的人生。带着不断自我塑造的人生目标和怡然自得的生活态度，Scott就像沉香，从容而不露锋芒。

欧洲、北美游历之余，Scott享受着雇佣与自雇的工作乐趣。曾全职工作于好莱坞，并于2005年成为美国演员工会一员，期间创作完成17部电影剧本。

Scott的教学工作开始于中国。2007年在我国内蒙古一家英语教材出版公司担任总经理。2008年正式走上教师岗位，在蒙古国首都乌兰巴托的Hartford Institute（后改名为莱佛士学院）担任英语教师。2010年于印度班加罗尔教授英语。随后，回到蒙古国开发72小时在线英语课程，并且兼任节目主持人、网站编辑、自由撰稿人等媒体工作。2011年获得乌拉巴托大学英语教育学学位。

内容简介如下：

December 7th
An effective resume, or CV is a very important tool to help you secure employment after you graduate. In this theme we will discuss how to put together an effective resume, or CV, and what is the difference between the two.

December 14th
In this theme we will learn how to write in general, and specifically how to write a movie script. But after we learn about this writing technique, you can apply it to writing anything, from writing an essay to a Doctoral Thesis.

December 21th
One important skill that can serve you well in life is how to run any retail establishment. In this theme we will discuss methods for maintaining an efficient and profitable retail establishment and how to manage inventory and how to gain a competitive advantage.

December 28th
In this theme, there are many periods and cultures of historical interest that can be discussed, but for this semester we will focus on specifically the Ming Dynasty of China and the economics and political philosophies of the era.

外教Joel

Joel Reniker ，美籍外教，2007年毕业于乔治梅森大学，获得政府与国际政治专业文学士学位。2010年获得中国人民大学国际关系学院，当代中国研究项目文学硕士学位。曾在清华大学项目留学通、北京现代管理大学等任职。现任职于北京外国语大学国际商学院、北京外国语大学同文教育发展培训中心。

外教Joel具有丰富的英语教学经验，教学时长八年以上、创建超过1000页原创教材。主要教授英语口语教学、雅思/托福考前辅导、口音训练，学术写作，研究方法等课程。

如何提高口语实操技能，看看外教Joel的方案：
- We will do several conversation exercises.
- In each exercise, I introduce the topic and explain what to do.
- Then I ask YOU for answers; an answer is normally 2-3 statements; try to express yourself!
- We talk together about the answers.
- Ask questions any time(but please, stay on topic).

Joel的节目采取总分的授课模式，围绕当次节目主题进行发散式渐进引导。首先，阐述主题。再次，进行文化渗透式的举例分析。最后，说出你的观点。由此希望可以帮助同学们在理解中美文化差异的基础上，针对你身边的生活，围绕主题进行概括性学习，力求将英语运用到实际生活中，进而提高英语口语实操技能。

内容简介如下：

November 13th
"Do you fit the stereotype?"
We will define and discuss common stereotypes - including gender, age, and "national" stereotypes. Our exercises will include describing stereotypes, explaining why they exist, and correcting them.

November 20th
"Who are you?"
We will discuss identity - including for our individual self, our family, our hometown, and our country. Our exercises will include describing what matters most to us, what labels we give ourselves, and how do we define members of "our" group.

November 27th
“What have you learned?”
We will discuss lessons we have learned in our lives - such as from our failures, our successes, our work, and other people. Our exercises will cover mistakes we have made, experiences which have shaped us, and advice that we have for others.
